Bohemian Endgame (Song for Pete)

November 16th, 2007 · 1 Comment

It’s time I had some time alone

Welcome to the endgame
Welcome to the 23rd hour
Somewhere in the frozen dark
The bell tower waits for the moment
That time stands still

She brought me a candle
I’ll never forget the play of light
In her eyes and the room full of smoke and sound
Words and pictures hands and faces
Changing places

It’s time I had some time alone

Welcome to the endgame
The man behind the curtain
Built a garden out of nothing much
But spare parts bare hands smoke and mirrors
Days nights and years

Welcome to the winter solstice
A murder of crows
Roosting in the branches of the trees over me
Once this town had a heart
I can show you exactly where it used to be

It’s time I had some time alone
